Economies that are progressing toward becoming advanced with ... liquidity in local debt and equity markets ... and stricter standards in accounting and securities regulations 5 . Coined in 1981 by leading financier Antoine van Agtmael, the term emerging markets was a positive and dynamic substitution of the then categorization Third World .
